Children in these remote villages like Katapazi suffer from hunger, therefore it is vital to provide food in schools, especially for the pupils who have to walk a substantial distance to seek an education. Seeds and fertilizers are donated to schools to enable them to have a sustainable school garden to support a feeding programme. The maize is gathered and dried to provide food throughout the winter months.
